About

Angel Axioma (b. 1985, Guadalajara, Mexico) is an artist based in Austin, Texas, whose work follows one continuous process across paper, paint, digital fabrication, resin and metal, and asks why we keep dividing that process into categories it does not have.
Raised in South Texas, Axioma grew up imagining himself an inventor. He earned an MFA in Studio Arts, then followed the curiosity further into a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering at The University of Texas at San Antonio, wanting to know at the molecular level how the systems he had been drawing actually work.
Axioma’s recent permanent commission, Two Live By A Star (2025), which followed three months of ride-alongs with Travis County EMS and Fire, translates the mission of first responders into a sculptural meditation on service, care, and interdependence.
A Place for Our Thoughts (2019), first commissioned for the City of Austin’s TEMPO program and later acquired by the City of Pflugerville for its Public Library, weaves community silhouettes into a civic archive of shared memory.
His work runs in two registers at once, a studio practice and permanent civic commissions, and both are after the same thing: forms that make the continuity visible, and the lines we draw in it harder to ignore.
